Phyllis Hope Miller Scholarship Recipients Announced
Phyllis Hope Miller, daughter of A.J. Miller, Jr. and the late Jimmie Hayter Miller, passed away as a result of cancer on May 6, 1976, just days before her graduation from Patrick Henry High School. Her battle with cancer had taken her to medical centers throughout Virginia, but a diagnosis proved difficult and treatment was unsuccessful. In memory of his beloved daughter, Mr. A.J. Miller, Jr. is now assisting in funding the Phyllis Hope Miller Scholarships.
The scholarships became an annual event for the Foundation beginning with the 2005-2006 school year. Applicants themselves must have been diagnosed with cancer or must have a parent/guardian or sibling who has experienced cancer.
